Weekend Ramblings

Guess I cannot yell at Kim since I have not posted....I did try last week, but the comment thing was messed up and then I could not save the draft, so I pitched it!!

We girls returned from Philly last nite....yes, we had a GREAT time, and yes, we did SURPRISE everyone!!
Airline flight $44

Hotel....cheap

Car ...almost free..

Shower gift $$$

Surprised look on everyones faces....priceless

It was fun, and I did get to know my future daughter in law better, as well as her family. Her shower was nice and she got lots of wonderful things she needs to set up housekeeping....made all the old married ladies lust for new stuff!!LOL

We drove from Philly to Derek's work, and sat in the customer service area to wait...He glanced over after about twenty minutes, and had a blank stare, unbelieving what his eyes were beholding---his Mom and sisters!! We walked to a little shop behind the bank and got a great gelati!!

We went to a park the next morning and had great fun, and then to a small village near there with ecclectic shops and different things....we bought Maddy a plaque that reads:
"I didn't ask to be a Princess, but hey, if the crown fits....."

WE also got some trinket and gifts for CHEAP (you know me!!)

Saturday we went to King of Prussia Mall and met a friend of Miriam and Rachel's that they met at the WILDS last year (they were cabinmates)....we had such great fun. Her Mother joined us....we felt as if we had known each other for a lifetime. She is a believer with the same convictions, etc. and attends an independent church in Pa. What a blessing to spend time with them....we laughed and cried. We were sad to part company!! Ironic, but they attended Calvary Baptist a few years ago and know my son's fiance and all her family---small world!!

The great news is that we found a dress for the wedding for Rachel---Bloomingdales---50%off, with and additional 40%....just the color and style she had been searching for!!The girls also spent their money at Christopher and Banks and found many nice skirts (MODEST!!)...and a possible outfit for Miriam for the wedding!! YAY!!

WE were surprised at church yesterday to see old friends from here who pastor up there now!! What a joy!! They were missionaries to France, Australia and Guyana prior to accepting this pastorate....what dear servants for the Lord!

I guess if you had seen all our trials yesterday, you would have shaken your head in disbelief....but one funny one is that we had to RUN all they way through one airside to the plane because of a malfunction at the security check point!! Yes, three of us running and we got there just as the plane boarded!! We laughed til we cried on the way home !!

Pray for my DIL and the new granddaughter...she is to be induced o the 5th....we would prefer a normal delivery sooner !!

I have missed taking to all of you...you are still in my prayers, though!

The Angels are Singing and Rejoicing

Now to bigger and better news....

Maddy called me today , I was just walking into th eChiristian Bookstore to purchase a gift for the shower----

She says, "Grandma, you know what? I askeded Jesus in my heart ."

Well, I cried soo hard, I could not talk, and passed the phone to the Aunties....yes, they cried, too. She called everyone--including Poppie , and the funky unkys! They both were excited.

She seems to know she asked Jesus to take away her sin and she wants to live in heaven with Him. Obviously, to her sin is the bad things she does....Believe me, we will talk more about this later!!

Tomorrow, she is going to tell her teacher....she loves her so much!! And, tomorrow is the last day of school. PIZZA PARTY!! But, the most important thing today that she had for her teacher was not the frame she was making her, but her"good news!"

DRESS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, some of you have kindly asked if I have found a dress....let's just say in the past week, I have returned two dresses, and been to:
David's Bridal, Emalina's Botique. Macy's , Helen Cabrera (dressshop), Nordstrom (and their online store, too), Neiman Marcus, and Patricia's Botique (about 30 miles north of here)....we also visited Ann Taylor, Forever XXI, peeked in Jessica McClintock, and who knows where else for the girls! I guess my idea of modest is not the same as the designers or for that mattter others! And, I am slightly larger than the average Mother of the groom!!

To add insult to injury today, after one young (VERY YOUNG---maybe 18 Y/O, ) gave us books to look at, another consultant came to assist us, and she tried very hard and even called about delivery times, etc.....but the Owner and another lady came to the rescue....they seriously did try to help....but, you see, I want Navy blue, no strapless or thin straps, not see through, and in my size (somehow you cannnot get a feel for the look without your size!!) Just muy own opinion, but ladies do not need two hand widths of flesh showing on their body for all to gaze at!!
Anyway, the owner, who is petite and maybe 5'2", proceeded to MEASURE me!! (Yes, I must have looked REAL Thrilled, since she had just given me a "similar top" to the dress I liked in ta different size, and I found it hard to breathe and looked FLAT!! And, she called out the measurements across the room. After she finished, she got some chart out, and seems that eadh number of mine has its own dress size....some two sizes larger and some two smalller...NO AVERAGE HERE!! YES SIREE!! I DEFY ALL THOSE BOOK STANDARD NUMBERS. She informed me that I would have to pay for alterations....YIPEE!!! I buy two sizes bigger in each area.....Oh, yes, if the dress comes and I HATE IT, I bought it, because they special order it. Oh, but yes, it will be here in plenty of time for the wedding and alterations!! Well, that just soothed by anxiousness about finding a dress! N O T !!!!!!

So, now, if any of you have a cute pair of drapes or curtains that I make flow around my body, I could be no more humiliated than today, so just let me know, I am an expert at draping and flowing fabric!

Til next time, Iwill be online searching!!

Interview Questions

1. If you could spend the day with a famous person, who is still alive today, who would it be and why? WOW....I have soo many I would love to lick their brains and learn and get "wise counsel".....do I have to narrow it to one??? Let's see....Rita Vernoy, Laura Bush, Jackie McCobb, hmmmm......They alll have a story of where they got to today, and such wisdom. I want them to tell me how they were/are so dedicated in the face of adversity. I iknow they all love the Lord and that is their hope, but there is so much more........

2. How would you define the following phrase: "DYING TO SELF"?

Giving up all I feel or know I am entitled to, without hesitation for peace and to show the love of the Saviour.

3. Do you have a hobby or a favorite way to unwind? If so, tell us how you got started in it.

Banquets and teas....just to make special times for others (mostly women)...even wedding receptions.

Usually to unwind, I telephone friends or blog!!

4. Name an adventure you would love to do or go on.

I would love to go to Israel (truly not possible right now in the midst of wars around the region)...jsut to walk where my Saviour lived, walked and taught......I believe it would be so humbling!!

5. Name three things you do to encourage others.

Make phone calls, send cards, prepare a meal for them (or a service they do not expect)

6. Describe your church building, your pastor, and your pastor's wife.

Small lapsided white building, with an entry to the sanctuary. Another entry door is to a hallway that houses the school. It lies directly under the roof area that supports a steeple. The plants could use some work, as we do not have a gardner/custodian, and they see alot of workout from the schoolkids. The interior of the sanctuary is a deep forest green carpet, pew seats and the choir chairs. The walls are white with purple/green muted valances and blinds on the windows. The baptistry is to the back of the pulpit and stage area. It is framed with decorative white wood, and recessed with a brown wooden cross on the back wall of it, with blue color depicting the water lower in the square. A piano is to the left of the stage, and a seldom used organ to the right. We have suspended microphones as well as stationary/wireless ones situated near the piano. The building has Pastor's office situated just inside the foyer to the right , with the nursery (infant) to the left and a restroom. We have an office and three classrooms off the steeple hall along with the lunchroom/teen room, and the right hall has four classrooms. The average class seats 10-15 .

Our Pastor is 37 years of age, about 5'10" (or so) with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He is a compassionate man who weeps for lost souls and for his place standing and preaching the Word before a Holy God. He is the father of four children aged 2-9. He has been marrried to Ms. Dina for 10 years. He loves expository preaching, but does not shy away from topical preaching (tithing, etc.). He is not prideful, as he often exposes his weaknesses and sheds tears over his sin before the Lord.

Ms. Dina is our Pastor's wife. She is about 5'4" tall, with dark hair (I would call it soft black) and dark eyes. She loves the Lord and leads the ladies. She does not shy away from speaking to other ladies (banquets, luncheons) at other churches, either. She is a great Mom.
She stays in the Word, and encourages women in the church. You will find her before every service greeting others, shaking hands, and giving hugs.

MADDYISMS II

When your three year old granddaughter calls and shares her day, and says, "Grandma, I miss you!!" Then, you know it is time to go visit her, which I did the next day! She loves playing with the girls (Mom is 8 months pregnant)...and soo, she decided to play Dr. with Rachle. You must get the picture:
High heels, stethoscope around the neck, and a book has been folded over and ona clipboard to make a patient chart, and pencil is scribbling .
The exam and questions start: How are your counsells? (obviously tonsils, but she is suffering with a stuffy nose), and we ask twice more to make sure! Then "your reflexes aren't too good!"(all the while "charting!")....then, "how about your allergies?...Mine ae terrible right now!"
Then she proceeds to ask about "heartburn"...to which Rachel chuckled!! Then she stated "I think you are pregnant (Remember, I said Mom is 8 months along, and her best friend is 7 months, and they have three girls from her wedding that are pregnant and four friends pregnant).......(is it in the water supply???LOL).......needless to say, after that dcomment from Maddy, we died laughing!! She got her pretend cell phone and called someone named "Robert" and Said, "Hmmm, yes....I think so, .....Yes, I agree...).....she then turns the phone up on her ear to say "He thinks you're pregnant, too!" By this time, we were rolling on the floor!!! You must understand Rachel is 15 and had no desire to have a boyfriend or suitor til she is 35 years old!!
However, she could not contain her laughing at the Dr. Maddy exam and charting!!

Yes, only four weeks, and Emma Grace will be here!! Wonder if she will inherit the humor from her sister???
